When does a company need an ERP?
Consider ERP when the main difficulty is coordinating orders, inventory, documents and approvals. Not every spreadsheet justifies building a new system.

Follow a real order
List every tool between sale and delivery, each data re-entry and the people approving documents. Find where displayed stock differs from the records the team accepts. Concrete data defines the problem.
Choose process change, integration or software
A single manual handover may need an integration. Unclear rules need process work first. ERP makes sense when several business functions need shared records and access rules.
Separate operations and accounting
Agree with accounting which documents are created, who checks them and which system remains authoritative. Custom ERP is not automatically certified accounting software. A 1C connection depends on the specific configuration and permitted access.
Launch a measurable core
Choose a stage such as order–stock–delivery with ownership and acceptance criteria. Measure stock discrepancies and processing time before and after in comparable periods. Expand after the team uses the core reliably.
